I love photograph, despite it’s poor quality. I found it in Haworth, but one the photographs previous owners has written on the back “Aug 11th 1925 Rodley Park” and a simple internet search has revealed Rodley Park, now styling itself as a nature reserve, is in Leeds. I love the athletic pose of the man in the foreground; especially contrasted with the man behind him, who appears to be smoking a cigarette whilst making to take his turn. Note the watch chains linking the waistcoat pockets of all four men. The park, especially the trees, behind the men also looks very grand.
The back of the photograph is also very interesting:
On the back there is a drawing there is very faint drawing of a door covered by a gabled porch (or at least I think that’s what it is). Beside it, to the left, is something that reminds be of a base of a column (but, again, I’m open to suggestions). Perhaps one of the men in this photograph was an architect or builder? What ever their occupation, one of the photographs previous owners had a talent for drawing.
