After completely ignoring this plaque for at least eight years, I noticed it today and was astonished. How could I have missed it? Only last month I was in this very shop, which is a Oxfam charity shop in its current incarnation, browsing through the second hand books and buying a copy of “The Red Badge of Courage” by Stephen Crane.
Later in the day I sat on a bench in the Market Place and looked at the spot, whilst eating my packed lunch, and tried to imagine the scene. Business takes me to Louth again on Thursday; I wonder what will be revealed to me on that visit?
