Posted Out and About.
inI was lost when I took this photograph, but I have a feeling that this beautiful garden gate is somewhere close to the Royal Commonwealth Pool on Dalkeith Road. “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett came to mind briefly, before walking on down a seemingly endless road and then turning around to walk back the way I came!

faces, Garden, gardening, hedge, house and garden, Kingston Lacy, National Trust, Topiary, Wimborne Minster
Before my trip to Kingston Lacy, an impressive country house and garden a short drive from Wimborne Minster in Dorset, topiary was something I largely ignored, but these cheeky looking chaps soon caught my attention from the very start of my visit. I wonder if they are caricatures of people the gardener knows; residence of Wimborne perhaps?

Ephemera, Garden, Hull, Hull City of Culture 2017, old photographs, Photography, Steam Train, Toy Trains
My favourite photograph, from the handful I purchased in Hull yesterday, is also the one that is in the worst condition, so I hope you can see it clearly. I love the wooden toy train; in fact I’m very jealous. The train, including the tender, is probably as long as the little girl is tall, so it must be on quite an impressive scale. It is also nice to see a young lady in charge of the steam engine rather than a doll in a pram or a dainty tea set. The back of the photograph is blank, so you can read as much into the photograph as you like.
