This was one of the relatively new features of The Station Hall when I visited York last February. I did not like the changes at first, but they grew on me. The long, uncluttered, platforms were part of my childhood and I was loathed to accept that the new displays not only educated and informed the visitor, which should always be a museums primary goal, but also made the place feel more like a railway station or how you might imagine a railway station in the age of steam to be, which I assume was the point of having The Station Hall in the first place!
I took my three year old nephew to the museum for his first visit in the November; I wonder if he will have a similar experience if he becomes a regular visitor and they change something in another twenty years?
